Taking portraits of musicians and singers is an experience unlike any other. It’s both fun as you hear them playing and at the same time challenging, as it has to capture the essence of the art as well as themselves.
Miss, I a Brisbane based Cellist came to our studio to take some headshots and portraits for her artistic resume. She had never had any professional portraits before. We initially talked about all the details like the kind of dress and color that suit for her session. I convinced her I would guide her through all the posing parts and she would be comfortable during the shoot very quickly. Her hair and makeup was done by Jimmy one of our hair and makeup artists. Simplicity and elegant was our goal to aim for. We picked red color as a symbol of luck, happiness, joy and a long life for her dress and also the main color for the fine art portraiture. Also red suited well with her Cello beautifully. We tried different backdrops in variety of colors hand painted by my artist friend Conny. It was a very fun photoshoot and we both enjoyed this project a lot.
It was one of those memorable portrait sessions which I will never forget. During the photoshoot she was playing a beautiful melody which took me to another world. I felt so grateful to have this beautiful artist in my studio to create something different for her. A fine art portrait which is printed in a large size and framed in beautiful dark brown wood and hung on the wall of her house. She bought some beautiful 12×8″ inch prints for her wall and her parents as well.
